Typography Project- Stable

Size: The text size is rather large, implying strength and the potential for stability.
Shape: The letters are very bulky and are evenly spaced apart; they're precise, and they appear stable enough to hold up the larger letters. This font is Trajan Pro.
Orientation: The text is horizontal and completely flat against the ground, so gravity is less likely to pull the letters down.
Style: The text is bold, so it appears stronger and more stable.
Background: The background has a great amount of movement, due to the squiggles and the dots, while the text is very steady and unmoving. It creates contrast.

Typography Project- Active

Size: The word active takes up more than half the page, so it pops out.
Color: The white letters make the word active pop out, giving it a more energetic feel.
Orientation: The word Active is on a convex path, and it gets larger from right to left; this causes it to appear as if it is jumping out of the background.
Location: The word is in the center of the page, so it stands out in an almost obnoxious way. It appears important and covers a lot of ground across the piece, which makes it appear more active.
Background: The upside-down 'V's in the background give the piece upward movement, while the sideways 'I's give it downward movement. This makes the background appear more active, while simultaneously leading one's line of sight towards the text.

Typography Project- Implied

Size: The text takes up less than a quarter of the page. Implications can often be the main purpose of a sentence, though they are structured so that they don't take up the entire dialogue. This text is the subject, but it doesn't consume the entire piece.
Color: The text is made up of shades of gray, as implications tend to vary in how obvious they are. They could be blurred and difficult to understand, or fairly easy to identify. Hence, my text for Implied is made up of multiple layers in which the furthest back are the most blurred and transparent- the hardest to see, while the top layers are only slightly transparent, akin to a thinly veiled statement.
Location: It is located in the lower left corner, as implications are never smack dab in the center of a sentence. They are subtle and linger within, yet they are still noticeable.
Texture: The grid-like background gives the light around Implied and the 'i's an almost mesh look to them. Implications tend to be weaved into otherwise bland or normal sentences, which I think is well represented by this texture.
Background: I made up the background out of 'i's and the dots of the 'i's in darker shades of gray. The background makes the text stand out, much like how the rest of the sentence or dialogue makes the subtext within valid. Implications could not exist without a 'regular' conversation to carry them.

Typography Project- Quiet

Size: It takes up less than half the page. Small things tend to be quiet.
Shape: It's rounded and smooth (Myriad), so it gives off a quiet air.
Color: The letters are all pastels or relatively light, low saturation colors, so nothing pops out or stands out as loud.
Orientation: The text is on a concave path, so it flows without any jarring stops that may indicate loudness.
Location on the Page: It is located in the bottom right corner, so it doesn't pop out as boldly a centered piece might. Instead it flows downwards and lingers like haunting refrain.
Background: I used 'i's and 'q's in the background to create movement, though the colors stay low in saturation so they don't pop out. It all melds together in a relaxing, quiet fashion.

Screenshot Envy Project

I paired most of these based on subject and how they relate to the pictures I created alongside them. The first two pictures remind me heavily of liquid (lava), and they have very similar colors; though, the second is more pastel-like. The third image, I believe, stands out as unique compared to any others made near it; it reminds me of a logo. The fourth image stands out as well, and I think it works well on its own. The final images all relate to delicious ice cream, so I kept them together. Over the course of my project I wen from boiling hot liquid (lava) to a cold, yet melting solid (ice cream), which I found to be amusing. Mainly I was interested in how many separate images could spawn from one main idea, and I think this project conveys that well.

Book Cover

The emphasis of this piece is the rocking horse. It is the wooden, lifeless version of an actual animal, and it makes no noise, if its not moving. The environment around it is a house that is falling apart, which implies that there is no longer anyone left to use the rocking horse. So long as the house is empty, the horse with forever be silent.

Book Page 4

The emphasis of this piece is the cat on the right. Cats are known for prowling or moving around unnoticed in their natural environment. Sneaking about requires silence, as the slightest sound could alert any other creature in the environment to the cat's presence. Most cats also have a fluidity to their movements that gives them an air of quiet elegance even when they are not stalking.

Book Page 3

The emphasis is the woman's silhouette in the background. It relates to my theme because a silhouette at the end of a dark hallway instills a fear of the unknown. Hence, when approaching this subject, one would take care to be silent and make movement that would be slow and calculated. Additionally, compared to its environment, the silhouette is more empty looking, as it has less lines. Within itself it has less movement, giving it a more quiet disposition.

(Monochromatic)
The emphasis of this piece are the crows. They relate to my theme, because crows tend to give an still, ominous air to an already dark environment. Additionally birds don't tend to cluster in locations that are not already silent, and if they are making any noise themselves, the only reason one would be able to hear it would be because the rest of the forest is eerily quiet.
